Sharpness enchantment not working

The sharpness enchantment is not adding any damage in 1.21, in my survival world. I checked with damage on mobs and it deals the same damage as an unenchanted weapon. This is the case for a diamond sword:

The version is 1.21, but I think it affects things back in 1.20 as well. At this point, I am getting mad at not dealing enough damage and clearing trial chambers is a pain with this bug. I don't know if this affects everyone either.
