Are you holding a shield? In that case, does shift-right clicking on the wood while holding the axe fix the issue?

This is because the game rule spectatorsGenerateChunks is turned off by default when dying in a hardcore world. Turning this on by using /gamerule spectatorsGenerateChunks true will fix this issue.

I could successfully reproduce this bug consistently. Here is the requested information.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Join a server with allow-flight in server.properties set to false.

  2. Harness a Happy Ghast and fly around on it (you do not have to be in Survival).

  3. After a few seconds, you should get kicked for flying.

Observed Results:
The player gets kicked for the reason “Flying is not enabled on this server“.

Expected Results:
The player would not be kicked.

I’ve already reported the character arm issues at MC-280325, but I can confirm the regular freezes of the game, making it almost unplayable for me.
