sometimes, map disappears when scaling, copying, etc. you have to restart the world to fix this

The progress on the map is lost when changing scale MC-883 (Works as intended), but when copying ? Can you describe the procedure to recreate this issue ?
it's not only map disappearing, but sometimes the map is visible, but the point where you are is gone

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
you just copy maps as usual, and when you see the copied map, you can
only see the pointer.

I've been having this same issue. I'll log into a world, and my maps will be blank. Relogging does not work. I have found two ways to make the map appear however, the first is to discover new land on the map, or if the map is completed, you can place it in an item frame
