Any resource pack crashes minecraft upon start. Cannot change resource pack in-game.

What I expected to happen was...:
I could start minecraft with a different resource pack/I can change resource pack in-game

What actually happened was...:
If I go to %appdata% > .minecraft >> options >>> change skin to: skin:Sphax PureBDcraft 64x MC16 and save, it crashes when I load the game/If I try and change my resource pack while in main menu/in-game it doesn't change/stays default

Steps to Reproduce:
1. %appdata% > .minecraft >> options >>> Change "skin:Default" to "skin:[ENTER RESOURCE PACK HERE]"
2. Try to change resource pack in-game
3. Try to change resource pack at main menu
