Paused Block Breaking

I can't reproduce the problem, but sometimes when interacting with some things (like hitting zombies or emptying item frames) it will start breaking a block behind it and I can keep mining it but if I interact with anything else it stops

Not sure why it happens and it's nothing Game-Breaking but it is odd
