K9 Web Protection Blocks connections to SMP servers

Every time I play SMP i can connect to the server but then i get disconnected anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes later and this started happening after installing K9 webprotection on my computer (I'm not going to remove it because that is against my better judgement to do so). Minecraft does not crash I just get disconnected from the server with the erroer "Connection Lost Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: socket write error" and this does not happen if i connect to a server hosted on my own computer and i connect using localhost but it does occur if i connect using my IP address. Also other people are able to connect and play fine on the server locally hosted without issues.
