I was on a seed I was playing with at my friends house on the Xbox 360 Edition of Minecraft and created a world with the seed "tantom". It looked very similar from the PC to the Xbox. I was just walking around this farm I ran into and walked on the last pixel of the wood blocks and heard no walking noise. Therefore, making it a strange glitch I found and making myself post this.

WAIT! I just realized the reason this glitch happens. If you go into third-person and do the method about walking on the edge of the wood, it looks like the player isn't on the wood at all. The game thinks your not on wood. Then, Minecraft say's that I'm not on a block and that I'm making no noise.

Got it.

I've been seeing this since the beginning of Minecraft. The problem is that the game only plays the block noise for the nearest block under you to avoid overlapping noises. If more than 50% of you is off the edge of the block the block chosen for noise in an air block. This also effects the player's movement for certain blocks such as ice, which will cause the player to slide even if they are not completely on them.
