Bug with placing gravel/sand against on vines

Steps to reproduce

  • Find or make some suspended vines

  • Place the gravel block on any block above the bottom block of the vine

  • Make sure you place it on the right side!

  • This can also work by placing it on top of the vine

The sand/gravel will break the vine below them, but will remain suspended in the air

This is because the sand/gravel will have some vines on its bottom side, which suspends it (although experimenting has revealed that this should not happen)

there, it shows where the gravel was placed and what happened afterwards

The gravel replaces the vine (intended). The vine block below disconnects from the gravel because there is no vine there anymore (intended). The vine block below the gravel attaches to it (intended). The rest of the vine is now supported by the gravel, and the gravel by the vine (intended).

ok I repeated this, yes i am getting what you are getting, but the gravel block is still suspended in the air, that's the bug, vines are not meant to suspend gravel, you can prove this by dropping gravel so that it lands on the top of a vine

I have encountered this many times in 1.6.2. Confirmed.

since this has been reopened can a mod confirm it please?

No, don't see the bug.

the gravel/sand is being held up by vines

Yes. A vine block suspends the gravel.

the vine shouldn't be there, and vines shouldn't suspend vines
