As shown in image 1, I have a map of an already explored area with the ID #8
In the second image, I show how the result of extending the map still has ID #8
In the third image, I have updated the map, but it now has ID #9, making the previous ID #8 no longer exist
I consider this to be an error because it is the same map. Also, the cartography table itself shows that the map have the same ID when the map is updated, but in reality it does not, since the ID is replaced by another one when updated
If I do the same process with map ID #9, it will update to map ID #10 and so on until the map cannot be extended any further

Hello @[MOD] Greymagic27
Well, I apologize for the inconvenience. I've already read the guide on how to write a good report and I understand the importance of writing it clearly. I thought I was clear in explaining the issue, but if more detail and explanation are needed, I'd be happy to provide them 👍 I always try to be concise
To reproduce this issue, is not necessary to do anything out of the ordinary, it can be done at any time and just is required to play the vanilla version of Minecraft Java Edition version 1.21.4
Steps to reproduce:
Create a new world in creative mode
Obtain the following items from the inventory:
Empty map
Paper
Cartography table
Use the empty map, so that the area in which the player is located is recorded
Place the cartography table on the ground and interact with it by right-clicking to enter the "cartography menu/UI"
Place the map in the first slot and the paper in the second slot
At this point, before step 6, you can see the ID of the map you put in the first slot and see the ID of the map located in the right slot; both have the same ID according to the cartography table
Update the map, that is, click on the map located in the right slot
At this point, you can see how the map's ID has changed, replacing the previous ID
Observed results:
The map has a different ID number after being extended on the cartography table
Expected results:
After being extended, the map should still have the same ID since it is the same map
Note: This process can be done with any map, whether it's a normal map or a treasure map, whether it's obtained from inventory in creative mode or found in a building in the overworld. The ID number doesn't matter; the error is present either way
I'm attaching a video in which I reproduce the error, following exactly the same steps explained above. In this case, the map is ID #9 which after finishing, I repeat, the ID changes to #10 and does not remain #9, that is the error
