After I enchanted my fishing rod directly from an enchantment table it got the glowing effect but when I hovered my mouse over it nothing appeared but "Fishing Rod" in blue. I do not know if the enchantment it would have had is working on it or not and its hard to work out if it is.
Also I couldn't find this on the quicksearch so I am sorry if it is a duplicate.
p.s. For some reason I cant take a picture with my inventory open!?
