In 25w17a a separate cloud render distance slider was introduced. Using it to bring cloud render distance back to 32 chunks (same as it is in 1.21.5) you’ll see that the clouds appear way too… blue. Probably because fog is taking effect earlier than it should.
A possible solution to this is pushing fogStart further on lower render distances, fogEnd can stay the same.
Reproduction Steps:
- Create a superflat world in 1.21.5
- Run command /tp ~ ~10 ~
- Look up
- Load into the same world in 25w17a
- Set cloud render distance to 32 chunks
Note: Pay attention only to the clouds directly above you, not the ones as the edge of your screen. The fact that they appear differently is intentional, so I cropped them out of the screenshots.
Observed Results:
- In 25w17a clouds appear too faded
Expected Results:
- Clouds would look normal even on lower render distances
