Hello, Mojang team! I hope you're all doing well.
I tested the new features in Snapshot 25w19a and wanted to share some feedback on the added fog effect during rain. I think it's an interesting idea to enhance the ambiance, but currently it feels more like a contrast filter over the screen than a realistic atmospheric effect.
Right now, the fog appears very white and doesn't seem to account for the distance between the player and surrounding blocks. This contributes to the impression of a generic overlay rather than true environmental fog. It's especially noticeable when standing close to objects or inside covered structures, where the effect feels out of place—or shouldn't be visible at all.
My suggestion is to keep the fog effect, but adjust its intensity so it decreases as the player approaches nearby blocks, and fades out entirely in covered or indoor areas. This would make the effect feel more immersive and context-aware. I believe this should be technically feasible, given that the game already detects when the player is under a roof (e.g., by altering the rain sound).
These tweaks could preserve the intended atmosphere without harming visibility or causing visual dissonance, while adding a layer of realism to the experience.
Thank you for your continued excellent work on Minecraft!
Sincerely,
Gabriel Silva
