Hi, I've discovered that it's possible to put water in the Nether without it evaporating, in all versions of Minecraft.
If you go to the Nether and place a slab on the ground, use the Debug Stick to set it to "flooded," and then break the slab, you'll have water in the Nether.
I hope this report has been helpful.
