Custom item models that are larger than 1 slot in size will bleed onto other items incorrectly. There was a similar bug reported before MC-296431 which I understand is intentional behaviour, however I believe this issue describes other unintentional behaviour related to GUI item rendering.
Expected Result:
Item models bigger than 1 slot in size would be cropped to the size of the slot
Actual Result:
Items models bigger than 1 slot in size will bleed over onto other items (see attached screenshots)
Steps to Reproduce:
Activate the “ItemOverlappingBug.zip” resourcepack (attached)
Grab an axolotl spawn egg from the creative menu
Put the spawn egg on the hotbar along with a few other items (the exact items don’t matter)
Adjust the GUI scale setting to refresh the item atlas
Observe how the axolotl spawn egg texture incorrectly bleeds over onto the other items in the hotbar
Opening the creative inventory may also cause the axolotl spawn egg texture to bleed onto other items
