Sharpness enchantment, any level, not adding extra damage

It takes three hits to kill a zombie with a regular, unenchanted diamond sword.

Applied Sharpness V to it; still deals the same damage.

For reference, also tried with spiders, phantoms, skeletons and Creepers.

Upgraded it to Netherite, still kills the zombie in exactly three hits.

Environment

Expected: Finish the Zombie in two or less hits, including critical hits.

Hi! I decided to check your bug, but in the end it turned out to be erroneous.

I ran the test on version 1.21.5 of vanilla and hard mode, and I spawn two zombies. I made 1 regular diamond sword and another diamond sword, but with enchantment sharpness 5.
And then he killed two zombies with different swords.

The first zombie, which I killed with a normal sword and died after only 3 hits, and the second one, which I killed with a sword with a sharpness of 5, died with two hits.

Maybe it didn't work for you like it did for me because you didn't use vanilla minecraft.
After all, such errors are often created by modified clients.

I thought at first that you had such an error due to the different difficulty of the game, but after checking in hard mode, everything worked for me.

I also tested this myself on version 1.21.5, in both vanilla and hard mode. Using a regular diamond sword, it took exactly 2 critical hits to kill a zombie, as expected. I also tried with Sharpness V and with a netherite sword – again, 2 critical hits were enough.

The bug report seems to be incorrect. Everything works as intended in my tests.
