when going through a nether or end portal, the loading screen used to start after 4 seconds (for nether portals) or with no delay (for end portals) (though you can change those delays with gamerules now)
since 23w32a (second snapshot of 1.20.2) the loading screen starts too late while the player is seeing the portal animation instead.
this becomes apparent when the loading screen is long, because during it the world is frozen and the player can walk around and interact with the world as if during a server lag spike. some of the inputs might be delayed until after teleporting, like placing lava.
going through an end portal causes the player to see themselves falling in the lava below it before they see the loading screen. its most noticeable when you do it the first time in a session after opening the game (and on slower computers)
doesnt affect using the /tp command (/execute in minecraft:the_nether tp ….)
might be intended.
