HUD glitches

After several minutes of gameplay, the HUD, Inventory and Chest content items start to glitch; colors and graphics are distorted, sometime the item icon is gone but the item is still there, the qty number tuns red, the items are there but no qty, no item health bar and no icons.. you can only hover to see what’s in that slot. Restarting the game makes this go away until a few minutes later it starts doing it again. I have uninstalled and reinstalled minecraft, updated and rebooted my PC, updated my video driver.. I’ve been looking on forums but they refer to add-ons causing this, I don't have any adds-ons at all.
