Category: Resource Packs / Visual Inconsistency
Description:
Hello Mojang team,
I’d like to bring attention to an issue with the Programmer Art texture pack that affects the visual consistency of the game.
The Programmer Art pack is meant to provide the classic Minecraft aesthetic, but it currently lacks updated textures for many newer blocks introduced in recent versions (e.g., copper, bamboo, cherry wood, sculk, etc.). As a result, these blocks appear in the modern style even when Programmer Art is enabled, which creates a noticeable visual clash with older blocks that do follow the retro look.
This inconsistency affects the overall feel of the game for players who prefer the classic style and use Programmer Art for that reason. It breaks immersion when half the world looks retro and the other half uses modern high-contrast textures.
Steps to Reproduce:
Enable the “Programmer Art” resource pack in the latest version of the game.
Place older blocks (e.g., netherrack, oak planks) alongside newer ones (e.g., cherry wood, copper blocks, Crimson Nylium, sculk).
Observe the difference in style and lack of cohesive appearance.
Expected Result:
All blocks in the game, regardless of when they were introduced, should follow a consistent visual theme when the Programmer Art pack is enabled.
Actual Result:
Only legacy blocks use the classic style; newer blocks retain modern textures, disrupting the intended retro aesthetic.
Suggested Fix:
Update the Programmer Art resource pack with retro-style versions of newer block textures to ensure a cohesive experience. Even simplified or placeholder “classic” versions would help maintain consistency.
Thank you for your attention and for continuing to support different playstyles and visual preferences. This would be a much-appreciated improvement for long-time fans of Minecraft’s original look.
Kind regards,
