I had a torch in my offhand, and I accidentally placed it on a block. When I tried to break the torch, I kept holding the left mouse button, and when I let go of the left mouse button, the cracks on the block didn't go away. On punching the block again, the cracks on the block disappeared, and the block started being broken again.
Please see the attached video until the end. It affects 1.21.5, not 1.21.8.

Can confirm this bug in 1.21.8 too; I assumed I would find a previous report about this but couldnβt. Hereβs what I noticed: the bug is present not only when placing stuff with the off-hand, also happens with the main hand. It can be reproduced not only using torches but also any item whose hitbox is smaller than the block underneath (sunflowers, torchflowers, poppies, wildflowers, etc.).
