Leads attached to very small (scaled) mobs become invisible at distance

Leads attached to very small mobs (for example scaled down) become invisible at distance.
Reproduction steps:

• Spawn a chicken (or other small leashable mob).

• Use lead on it.

• Use `/attribute @n[type=minecraft:chicken] minecraft:scale base set 0` command to make it small.

• Move from the chicken and notice the leash becomes invisible.
