When attempting to sort items, the copper golem will search only the chests on the ground and not search vertically; this results in the copper golem moving back and forth between the same chests and not actually sorting the item which is stored in the upper row of chests.

Enclosed room with chests stacked on top of other chests, with a pillar in between the columns of chests

No matter if there is a block above the top row of chests or not, the golem will only search the bottom row
Had the same issue. They can search chests on top of other chests, but they can’t reach the chest that are one block vertical. Try creating a step for the golems.
