I can't change my skin in Java

I play singleplayer and multiplayer and I can’t change my skin from the default skins. I’ve changed the skins in the laucher and official site, but cannot see any differences and I also have tried uninstalling the laucher and reinstall but can’t seem to work. I don’t know if having the xbox game pass chages something?
