item frames placed on roof glitch up into the roof and item and frame disappear

placed item frames on the roof above chests and placed items in the frames. when removing items i clicked as per normal and the item disappeared from the frame but didnt drop. after replicating it in a seperate world i determined the block the frame is on needed to be broken before removing the item from the frame to allow it to drop otherwise it glitches into the roof and disappears
