In Survival mode, replacing an instantly breakable block with one which requires top support creates a ghost item if said block was supporting another block from below

Pressing left and right click simultaneously while looking at a block you can break instantly will replace said block with the one in your hand.

When using this method to replace an instantly breakable block (block of resin, slime block, etc.) with a lantern or hanging sign in survival mode, if the block you’re replacing has a block such as snow or carpet on top of it, both existing blocks will be broken as expected, but the block you attempted to place will become a ghost item in your inventory.
