Lightning that strikes waxed lightning rods do not deoxidize nearby unwaxed copper blocks

I made a 5x5 square of various unwaxed oxidized copper blocks, and in the center, placed one waxed lightning rod.

Then I set the weather to thunder. When lightning struck, none of the unwaxed oxidized blocks changed state. It happened several times. Lightning struck… nothing changed.

I tested this with both waxed and unwaxed lightning rods.

Unwaxed rods work fine. Waxed, no.
