In 1.21.9, some happy ghast sounds were changed from playing at 16 blocks away to 64 blocks away, to match ghasts. I attempted to revert this change with a resource pack, but it didn’t work.
I have attached a resource pack that shows that “attenuation_distance
" is set to “16”. I also changed the sound to a sniffer sound to prove that it’s not a syntax error on my part.
Steps to reproduce:
Apply my resource pack
Summon a happy ghast in your world.
Leash it to a fence so it doesn’t fly away
Stay between 16-64 blocks away from it
Expected results:
The happy ghast should not be audible from 16-64 blocks away, because of the resource pack.
Actual results:
The happy ghast can still be heard.
Note that even though the attenuation distance is hard coded, changing the sound itself using sounds.json still works.
