If the game cannot load the texture for the sun, it will appear to duplicate the moon texture instead. This is unexpected, and also a deviation from previous behaviour: in such cases, the missing texture would be displayed instead (since, of course, the texture couldn’t actually be loaded).
To reproduce: download and apply the attached resource pack. You’d expect the sun to appear as the missing texture (and an error to appear in the log since the texture could not be loaded), but it instead looks like a full moon.

The resource pack also unloads the end_flash texture, which in this case seems to cause it to appear invisible entirely (possibly mapping an unused area in the atlas).
