I played on version 1.21.4, but I also tested it on version 1.21.10. At first I wanted to build a button-note block to power the gate, but I discovered the following. When setting up the mechanism, the note block did not give a signal, but when I accidentally placed a red torch next to the mechanism exactly one block further from the comporator, I discovered that the mechanism was turned on remotely (then I discovered this with red dust, the comporator, so perhaps it reacts to all functioning blocks).
Initially the mechanism should be powered by a note block, the note block works like a button, but something went wrong.
I don't think it's supposed to work like that.
