When viewed in third-person, held items may appear “sandwiched“ between faint layers that are somewhat visible.
Additionally, translucent artifacts can be seen around the edges of the item.
These artifacts only appear when the camera is moved to certain angles.
To reproduce this, hold an item that clearly shows the issue, such as:
Enderman Spawn Egg
Redstone Dust
Brush
Bucket
Spear
(and similar items)
Now, move your camera until these artifacts become visible.
Tested on default video settings, without anything changed, as if you’ve just launched Minecraft for the first time.
Artifacts are more noticeable if you resize your game’s window to a lower resolution.
This bug seems to be partially fixed (at least from what I can tell).
From what I observed post-fix (25w44a), there still appear to be some translucent artifacts, though the issue is much less noticeable overall. However, expanded faces are still visible (to some extent) on flat sides that “sandwich” the item model, especially if you squint 👀 at an item such as Redstone Dust against a bright background (e.g., the sky, as shown in the attached video).
