As of snapshot 25w43a, Minecraft now runs on Wayland natively instead of XWayland on Linux. This comes with unfortunate side effects. One is that the cursor layout isn’t the same as the systemwide one anymore. Instead, it reads the theme set in /usr/share/icons/default/index.theme
. A current workaround is to set Inherits=Adwaita
inside that file to the cursor scheme you want to use.
Steps to reproduce the issue
Make sure you are using Wayland and not X11
Use the default Breeze cursor of KDE (if you’re on KDE) or set another cursor that is not Adwaita
Launch snapshot 25w43a
Watch how your cursor looks different (should be Adwaita by default inside the Minecraft window)
Expected result
The cursor follows the look I set in the system settings.
Actual result
The cursor will look different than what I set in the system settings.
