Fire Aspect not working?

What I expected to happen was...:
When I enchanted a Diamond Sword, I got Fire Aspect as an enchatment and I went to go get some steak.

What actually happened was...:
When I hit a cow, the Fire Aspect enchantment did not affect it. There was no fire or burning. I got the steak but no burning,

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make an enchanting room and get a sword with Fire Aspect
2. Go out looking for animals.
3. Once you find a cow hit it, you get the steak but no fire shows up.
