In 25w45a, MC-302663 was fixed to make other weapons (like a sword) have their weak/strong/critical hit/sprint-knockback/sweep attack sounds again. However, now spear attacks are layering the normal hit sounds under their dedicated ones, which was not the case before 25w45a and in their original intended implementation.
This also affects custom spears given with commands, where you’re specifically making the hit sounds a custom one using the dedicated “hit_sound” field, but the normal hit sounds are now layered underneath without making it so:

Expected Result: Spear hits (contact) use the dedicated spear hit sounds only, as it was in previous snapshot:
