When using the /tick rate command to increase the game’s ticks per second, music discs do not play their full length. Instead, only a portion of the music is played, and the playback becomes progressively shorter as the tick rate increases.
Steps to Reproduce:
Start a Minecraft Java Edition world (e.g., in snapshot 25w46a).
Use the
/tick ratecommand to set a higher tick rate (e.g., 100 tps or more).Place a jukebox and insert any music disc.
Observe that the music disc does not play completely — it stops prematurely.
Increase the tick rate further and repeat; the playback becomes even shorter.
Expected Behavior:
Music discs should play in full regardless of the game’s tick rate.
Actual Behavior:
The playback length of music discs is inversely proportional to the tick rate.
Environment
Minecraft: Java Edition
Version: 25w46a
Operating System: Windows11
Java Version: Java21

I guess that’s intentional, as
/tick ratespeeds everything up, and timers or clocks relying on disc length would desync…
