I finally came across a Drowned riding Zombie nautilus, in an frozen ocean biome, and I find that it surfaces next to ice it has issues turning around; I can just stand behind it an keep punching with no chance of a counter attack. The mob was just stuck floating high on the water’s surface in the day, staring in the same direction; while making no attempts to either turn around and/or bob down just a bit to give itself more room to turn round
The Devs may want to make the main body of the Nautiluses that the rider rides, the shell, juat a bit smaller. This allows better path finding including turning around in smaller spaces, similar to how the devs made the copper golem just a tad smaller to better path find.
maybe even have the Drowned riders' behavior of "surfacing" at the water surface the Nautilus to not typically be as high. Maybe even try experimenting on the Drowned rider path finding their respective Nautilus while going up columns of waterfalls to higher bodies of water for the final adjustment. It would likely make them faster at diving down, below to getting around blocks that are either at or ontop of the water’s surface as well.
These are jsut suggestings, I have no idea how path finding coding works,
