Minecraft Java 1.17+ uses OpenGL 3.3 despite OpenGL 4.5 being available on system

I am using Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.11 on Linux with an AMD Radeon HD 7400M series GPU.

My system reports the following via glxinfo:

OpenGL core profile version string: 4.3

OpenGL compatibility profile version string: 4.5

However, inside Minecraft (F3 debug screen), the game always reports:

OpenGL version: 3.3

Even though a higher OpenGL version is available system-wide, Minecraft does not seem to create or use a higher OpenGL core context and instead falls back to 3.3.

I would like to know:

Does Minecraft Java Edition intentionally limit the OpenGL version it reports to only 3.3 or 4.6?

Does Minecraft require a specific OpenGL core profile version to display anything higher than 3.3?

Is it expected behavior for Minecraft to show 3.3 even when OpenGL 4.x compatibility/core profiles exist on the system?

I tried 1.16.5 and older versions but they were perfectly showing 4.5 OpenGL version and using its optimization features.
