When a Piglin or Hoglin is attacked, the expected “alert” mechanic to call for help from nearby allies is malfunctioning.
In other group mobs (e.g., Zombies, Zombified Piglins), the alert is centered on the victim mob itself, warning all allies within a certain radius of the victim‘s location.
For Piglins and Hoglins, however, the alert check appears to be incorrectly centered on the attacker. This means the nearby Piglin or Hoglin will only be alerted if the attacker is within its 16-block detection range, not if it is simply within range of the victim Piglin/Hoglin.
This alerting behavior functioned correctly in earlier java versions and bedrock versions.
Steps to Reproduce:
Position two Piglins (A and B) approximately 10 blocks apart from each other (well within an alert radius).
Position yourself within 16 blocks of Piglin A, but more than 16 blocks from Piglin B.
Wearing gold armor, attack Piglin A.
Observe Piglin B’s behaviors.
Expected Result:
The attacked piglin/brute should alert all allies within a radius of itself, causing them to become hostile.
Observed Result:
Only when you are within their detection range will they become hostile from you attacking another piglin.
Affected Mobs:
Piglins, Piglin Brutes, Hoglins
