Armadillos escaping fenced area unassisted

In my singleplayer survival world, I have an area for armadillos that’s enclosed by acacia fences. There is an elevated area within, but I have confirmed several times over that they cannot get over the fences, as even I the player can’t without purposefully jumping across a gap. The armadillos are all named via name tag.

On multiple occasions, I have spotted the named armadillos outside of their enclosure. On one occasion, I even found one inside of a neighboring enclosure, having gone past impossible-to-breach tuff brick walls as well (unfortunately I did not take a screenshot of this occurring).

I suspect this may be related to me going some distance that partially unloads the area. (I afk at [-1400, 65, -1150] and the furthest-away-point of the enclosure is [-1135, 64, -971].) My render distance and simulation distance are both set to 10 chunks. I have never seen the armadillos escape while I am near them.

For additional context, there are trader llamas on the far side of the enclosure which are connected to the acacia fences via leads.

I have included screenshots of the armadillo enclosure, one of the tuff brick wall area, some of the escaped armadillos, and the trader llamas attached to the fence. My options.txt is also included, so you can reference my settings.

Expected Result

The armadillos should remain within the fenced area no matter what.

Actual Result

Armadillos are able to get out and seemingly walk through both fences and walls.

Hi!
Thank you for your report!

  • Could you please provide a world where issue occurs ? (If the file is to big to upload it here please upload it to One Drive and post the link to it here)

  • Could you pinpoint AFK spot and how long you stay in that spot?

  • Are you using any modifications or texture packs?

  • Could you try performing the issue on a flat world?

Hello, attached is the world file from a superflat world I tested in. I recreated my survival setup one-to-one, including the tuff brick wall area I mentioned in the original ticket. I used no datapacks, resource packs, or mods, with the sole exception of the Litematica mod being used to recreate my survival setup. I did not use a modded version of the game while the bug was occurring (I swapped back to vanilla).

The afk spot is at [-1400, -59, -1150]. If you go into the world itself, this is marked with iron blocks around it and a shroomlight block. I was there for only about 5 minutes when testing on this superflat world before checking and finding an armadillo outside of the fenced area.

The escaped armadillo was spotted at roughly [-1333 -60 -969] which is outside of the fenced area (see screenshot).
