Falling blocks don't have placing animations when placed in air multiple times in creative

When in creative mode, placing multiple falling blocks in the air (sand, gravel, concrete powder) by holding down the place button only shows the placing animation and plays the placement sound for the first block, not playing either for any other blocks.
