The rabbits do not follow players with golden dandelions, although they do follow players with golden carrots.

Description:

First: The rabbits follow players with carrots or golden carrots. So far, so good.

Second: The rabbits follow players with dandelions, but not with golden dandelions. This is inconsistent.

In this context, dandelions should be treated as food for rabbits, in addition to preventing the growth of baby mobs (which obviously includes baby rabbits).

Steps to reproduce the issue:

  1. Create a world with Creative mode enabled or enter an existing one with that mode activated.

  2. Take a golden dandelion from the Creative inventory, from the Food & Drinks section.

  3. Spawn a rabbit with its spawn egg and hold the dandelion in your hand.

Expected result:

The rabbits should follow the player.

Actual result:

The rabbits don't follow players.

Also confirmed in 26.2 snapshot 4: https://mctags.dev/#26.2-snapshot-4/item/minecraft/rabbit_food

Golden Dandelions are not rabbit_food and therefore do not tempt rabbits.

However, this may not be a bug (WAI) as all food that tempts any mob can be used to reduce the remaining time of growing by 10% per use (carrots, golden carrots, and dandelions with rabbits), but Golden Dandelions explicitly prevent baby mobs from aging and therefore may not be considered a food.

This behavior isn’t exclusive to rabbits. As an item, Golden Dandelion is missing from every single mob _food tag, and is only referenced by small_flowers and piglin_loved, suggesting its exclusion from mob food is intentional.
