Short description of the issue:
When flying at a very high altitude, a sun-like effect appears on the ground opposite the sun and flickers continuously from side to side.
Steps to reproduce the issue:
Create a new world or open an existing world in Minecraft Java Edition.
Enable cheats and use the command /gamemode creative to enter Creative Mode.
Fly straight up to a very high altitude (well above the normal build limit).
Look down at the ground while facing the direction directly opposite the sun.
Observe the ground area directly opposite the sun.
Expected result:
No flickering or sun-like visual effect should appear on the ground at any altitude.
Actual result:
A sun-like visual effect appears on the ground directly opposite the sun when viewed from high altitude, and it flickers continuously from side to side in a loop.

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. I have attached the zipped affected world file directly in this comment, as requested.
Let me know if you need any additional information or if the file has any issues.
Hello,
After further testing, I have a possible explanation for this issue:
The flickering sun-like effect might actually be the moon's texture being incorrectly rendered on the ground when viewed from high altitude.
This seems to happen when I repeatedly use /time set noon while flying very high up. At this altitude, the terrain below stops rendering, so the moon's texture may become visible through the empty space. Because the /time set noon command refreshes the sun's position repeatedly, the moon's texture could be flickering continuously from side to side in sync with these updates.
This is just my current hypothesis based on testing; I'm not certain if this is the exact root cause.
Let me know if you need any further information.
Hello, I just want to add a small clarification to my previous comment: This moon texture appearing on the ground is not limited to using the `/time set noon` command. I've also noticed that it appears consistently whenever I fly to a very high altitude and look down, even without changing the time. The flickering only happens when the sun's position is being refreshed by the command, but the underlying visual artifact is always there when viewed from high up.
Thank you for your report!
However, this issue is Invalid.
This report does not describe a bug.
The moon always appears opposite the sun, no matter the time of day, which is intentional behavior as per MC-45044 (resolved as “Works As Intended”). The /time set noon command advances the Overworld’s clock to the next instance of the minecraft:noon time marker, which effectively means the command adds one day to the world’s clock every time it’s run. The moon changes to its next phase every day, so the command cycles through all of the moon’s phases repeatedly, causing the apparent flickering effect.
