The Nether portal's portal animation blocks have strange texture/rendering when looking at it from certain angles, such as from the sides or above. I have found that this happens with any sized Nether portal and only happens when playing Minecraft with graphic settings set to Fast, on Fancy graphic settings this problem does not happen and from what I can recall, this problem didnt happen in the previous snapshot or 1.6.2.
I am not using a texture pack.

Do I need to uninstall the version of Java that I have on this computer, before installing the 64 bit version?
Also Im not sure this graphical glitch is being caused by the incorrect Java version because looking at the Minecraft forums, in the "Snapshot 13w37a Ready for Testing!" topic I'm seeing the same graphical glitch seen in the pictures above in the pictures that they are posting too.
But thanks for the answer, I'll install the 64 bit version then.
It wont let me install it. It gives me an error.
"Error 1606.Could not access network location %appdata%\."
It has been doing this to me for the past 2 years...
To the desktop? How do I do that? I know I can change the directory, the current directory is "c:\Program Files\Java\jre7\"
Is the error comming up during installation of the Java update? If it is save the installer to the desktop. Then right click it and run as admin. If its your Minecraft doing it then its a profile setting you have.
Your Java version is out of date! Please update your Java to the latest version: http://www.java.com/en/download/ .
When using a 32-bit browser on a 64-bit operating system the automatic version detection will only show the 32-bit version of Java, the 64-bit version needs to be downloaded manually: http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp .
