Triple-click fails to place held item after double-click stacking in containers (26.2pre1-1.21.9)

Short description:
Triple-clicking quickly on items in containers no longer properly places the held item after double-click inventory stacking.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a container (e.g., a buried treasure chest) containing certain items (e.g., diamonds, gold).

  2. Ensure the player's inventory also contains the same type of item (e.g., diamonds) in a stackable manner.

  3. Quickly triple-left-click on the diamond in the player's inventory — the first two clicks perform the "double-click to stack" action, and the third click is intended to place the held item into the target slot.

  4. Repeat the same triple-click action on another item type (e.g., gold ingots) immediately after.

Expected result:
After the double-click stacking completes, the third quick click should place the held item into the slot (as in versions 1.21.8 and earlier). The player can then smoothly move to another item and triple-click again without extra delay.

Actual result:
In versions 1.21.9 through the latest (tested on 1.21.9-26.2pre1), the third click often does not place the held item if performed too quickly after the double-click. A small delay is required before the third click, otherwise the item remains "stuck" on the cursor, causing sluggish and uncomfortable inventory handling. This issue does not occur in version 1.21.8, where even extremely fast clicking (1 click per game tick) works correctly.

Additional notes (optional but helpful):

  • Tested version: 1.21.9-26.2pre1

  • Comparison version: 1.21.8 (works correctly)

  • Attached GIF description:

    • In the "leaves" GIF (26.2pre1):

      1. Normal double-click → stacking works.

      2. Rapid consecutive clicks (~10+ clicks) → stacking works, but held item is never placed.

      3. Double-click + small delay + third click → stacking works and item is placed.

    • In the "log" GIF (1.21.8):

      1. Normal double-click → works.

      2. Rapid consecutive clicks → item is repeatedly picked up and placed (normal behavior).

      3. Immediate triple-click with no delay → stacking and placement both work correctly.
