In snapshot 7 blocks were made able to display transparent and translucent textures as they are, rather than forcing them to be opaque. However, the culling behaviour of blocks is unchanged, meaning that this behaviour can be used to see through otherwise solid blocks simply by changing textures of existing blocks.
A resource pack is attached which can be used to reproduce this issue.

Place a block of lime stained glass
Place a crafting table
Compare
Expected results: both would look identical and have identical effects.
Actual results: you can see through the ground using the crafting table, which you cannot with lime stained glass.
To fix: blocks should check the textures they use to determine if they should cull other blocks, so transparent textures cannot be exploited for this purpose.
