Since SulfurSpikeBlock doesn’t override SpeleothemBlock.blocksStalagmiteScan(which always returns false) as PointedDripStoneBlock do, they can grow stalagmite when there is block that doesn’t support them (e.g. bottom slab) between tip of stalactite and ground.
How to reproduce
Prepare a column with following blocks from bottom:
A base block that can support upwards Sulfur Spike (e.g. full block)
1–8 blocks of air
A block that can’t support upwards Sulfur Spike (e.g. bottom slab)
2 blocks of air
Sulfur Spike (down)
Sulfur
Observe that downwards Sulfur Spike can grow upwards Sulfur Spike on base block, igonring obstruction. Increase tick or random tick speed if you need.
Note: If downwards Sulfur Spike grow to 3 blocks and no longer be able to grow, they can’t grow stalagmite either. Break and retry in that case.
