Crafting decorated pots without sherds using the recipe book creates a pot that doesn't drop bricks when broken with a tool

I presume OP is referring to an issue of Decorated Pots that have been crafted with only Brick items, without using Pottery Sherds:

It seems a plain Decorated Pot will not drop ANYTHING if broken by a tool, whilst it should drop 4 Bricks. This seems to happen if and only if the Decorated Pot is made entirely of Bricks; including even one Pottery Sherd makes the Pot drop every component, including any Bricks used
