When placed sideways, the bouding box of the Shulker box extends sideways while being opened, creating a surface in the adjacent block onto which a Cushion should be able to be placed. However, attempting to place a Cushion on this extended section always puts it on the base part where the Shulker Box block is, instead of the extended part (the βlidβ of the box). This is unintuitive, to say the least.
Note that this is not MC-310148 per se since the Cushion is still placed onto the base part even if an auxiliary supporting block is placed where the extended section would be. Although technically fixing this bug can lead to an even worse edge case for 310148 since we now have a block whose collision box extends out sideways.
Steps to reproduce
(optional)
tick rate 1so that it is easier to operate the following stepsPlace a Shulker Box sideways
Open the Shulker Box and wait until it fully opens
Leave the Shulker Box inventory UI, and (optional) immediately
tick freezeBefore the Shulker Box fully closes (if you
tick freezeed in time this should be always the case), try to place a Cushion on the extended lid of the Shulker Box
Note that it would be easier to test in multi-player by having another player keeping the Shulker Box open.
Expected Result
Either the Cushion can be placed onto the lid, or the placement fails due to an variant of MC-310148 and no Cushion is placed.
Actual Result
A Cushion is placed onto the base of the Shulker box.
