Description
With OpenGL no game window appears after launching the game, sound works, but there is no window. The game window appears without any issues using Vulkan.
With OpenGL the game crashes with the attached crashlog. The game won’t crash with Vulkan or using X11 or X-Wayland. The behavior changed with 26.3 Snapshot 9, the issue started with Snapshot 4 (change to SDL) and up until (including) Snapshot 8 the game did not crash, but also did not display a window.
Testing and video are from Snapshot 5, where this issue did not cause a crash. With Snapshot 9 the game crashes with the attached crash log.

As the minecraft log did not report any issue (attached) and the stack trace report the rendering thread working (using jstack <pid>, attached), I’ve looked at the kwin debug console and no window showing up there (except when forcing x11 using SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11(or snapshot 3 or lower) a window would show up in the x11 windows category).
As a second step I’ve enabled wayland debug logging using the WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 flag (attached both logs with opengl (where the issue exists) and a working one with vulkan)
Some of the tinkering steps done were suggested using AI (therefore potentially be pretty useless), if any other log could help identifying the issue, feel free to ask for it in the comments.
Video (also likely deprecated, the game just crashes now)
A quick description of whats happening in the attached video:
Minecraft launched with Vulkan, displayed vulkan is used and quit again
Minecraft launched again with vulkan and changed to OpenGL and quit again
Minecraft tried to launch with OpenGL (no window appearing, not shown in kwin debug console) and the force-closed
The options.txt is edited to use vulkan again
Minecraft is launched using vulkan and the main window is displayed correctly again

I can confirm this. It also happened to me, and I needed to fix it by doing SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11, and it did launch, but was forced to vulkan, because of this:

My system: Fedora Linux 44, Linux 7.1.7-200.fc44.x86_64 (64-bit),
The behavior changed with 26.3 Snapshot 9, instead of not spawning a window the game crashes with the attached crashlog.
It doesn't seem to happen to every device. OpenGL is working fine and the window is using wayland

Yes, the game no longer crashes 26.3 pre1 and later, but OpenGL is still no longer available. The game automatically selects Vulkan now. I’ve also tested with a laptop with a NVIDIA GTX 1050 as well as integrated intel graphics, OpenGL seems to work on the integrated graphics, but not on the dedicated GPU.
Imo Vulkan is the far better option, but as it was possible to use OpenGL in the past it should theoretically still work, but currently does not. Just to let you know OpenGL is still not working (same error), but the game now automatically switches to Vulkan.
Attached another log of 26.3-pre2 from my main PC (NVIDIA GTX 1080), just in case you want to fix OpenGL, but imo the current state with Vulkan only is fine for me (ig it only affects a handful of legacy GPUs anyways).
There was no perfect answer here. Making it fallback to VK instead of crashing was the fix for this cash. The OpenGL driver appears to be (partially?) broken here, with this being specific to Maxwell and Pascal GPUs (900 and 1000). I did actually test this on effected hardware, and do not have a good way to make GL work properly. This is likely a bug in Nvidia’s EGL implementation, which is only used via Wayland, with Nvidia being known to have issues with Wayland (so, EGL).
