The Option key on macOS is displayed as "Alt" in the Key Binds screen

Mod note

This report was originally about both the super and alt/option keys, but the former is already covered by MC-121375, so this report only pertains to the latter. I have retitled the report while leaving the description unchanged.

When setting any control to either Left Cmd, Right Cmd, Left Opt, Right Opt on any Mac device, those appear as Left Win, Right Win, Left Alt, Right Alt.

Expected Result
The game should check whether you’re on a Mac device and, if so, switch accordingly.

NOTICE:

Some languages translate Left Win and Right Win as Left Meta and Right Meta, which is what English should do to. To be backwards compatible, source strings should be changed as follows:

• "key.keyboard.left.win": "Left Meta",

• "key.keyboard.right.win": "Right Meta",

• "key.keyboard.left.windows": "Left Win",

• "key.keyboard.right.windows": "Right Win",

• "key.keyboard.left.command": "Left Cmd",

• "key.keyboard.right.command": "Right Cmd",

This allow for fixing in both older versions, which would show Left Meta and Right Meta anyway, and newer, which would use the new strings. Linux and any undetermined system would default to .win strings, Windows would use the .windows ones and macOS would use the .command ones.
