When you hover your mouse over a button in a menu, it gains a white highlight, which is removed when your mouse is removed from it. However, some buttons (particularly those in the settings menus) will continue to have this highlight if clicked, even when the mouse is removed from them. This affects the last button that was clicked, including sliders.
