After updating Minecraft: Java Edition to version 26.2, I started experiencing a graphical rendering problem with fluids.
Water is still present and behaves normally, but its visual texture is not rendered. For example, when looking at an ocean, it appears as if there is no water at all. However, when I enter the water, the game still treats it as water and the underwater effects work normally.
Lava has a similar problem. Instead of rendering its normal red/orange animated texture, it appears completely black.
This problem started after updating to Minecraft Java Edition 26.2. I did not experience this issue in previous Minecraft versions on the same hardware.
Steps to Reproduce
Launch Minecraft: Java Edition 26.2.
Use an Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated GPU.
Create or load a world.
Find a body of water, such as an ocean.
Observe the water from outside.
Enter the water and observe that the water is physically present even though its surface/texture is not rendered.
Find a lava source or lava pool.
Observe that the lava is rendered as black instead of its normal red/orange animated texture.
Expected Result
Water should render normally with its usual blue/transparent animated texture.
Lava should render normally with its usual red/orange animated texture.
Actual Result
Water is invisible or appears not to be rendered at all, despite still functioning as a normal fluid.
Lava is rendered completely black instead of its normal texture.
Troubleshooting
I have already tried multiple graphics-related settings and configuration changes, but the problem persists and the visual result does not change.
I am reporting this because the issue appears to be related to the rendering changes introduced around version 26.2 rather than a problem with the actual fluid blocks or world data.
Hardware / Software
Minecraft: Java Edition
Minecraft version: 26.2
GPU: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Integrated graphics
Operating system: Windows 10
Graphics driver version: Graphics driver version: 10.18.10.4242 Graphics driver date: 16 June 2015
Java version: 25.0.1
Resource packs: Vanilla
Mods: None
Additional Information
The fact that the fluids remain functional while their textures are not rendered makes this appear to be a graphical/rendering issue rather than a gameplay issue.
I would appreciate it if this could be investigated for compatibility with older Intel integrated graphics hardware, particularly Intel HD Graphics 4000.
Environment
Windows 10; Intel HD Graphics 4000; Driver 10.18.10.4242; Java 25.0.1; OpenGL 3.3.0; Intel Core i7-3630QM; 4GB RAM; Vanilla, no mods.
